An image does not need dozens of edits to become funny; sometimes one strange facial expression is enough. You can also use surreal artwork, distorted cartoon characters, unusual photographs, or bizarre combinations of familiar snoopy pfp. The important thing is that the image remains humorous rather than becoming genuinely disturbing or inappropriate for your audience. Different platforms and communities have different standards, so an image that works in a private meme group may not be appropriate for a public profile.
