I’ve been trying to work out whether I’m being quoted fairly or taken for a ride, and honestly I can’t tell because the prices I’ve been given are all over the place. My 2017 Infiniti Q50 has done about 98,000 kilometres and it’s due for new spark plugs, or at least that’s what I think is causing the problem. The car has been feeling a bit flat lately, the idle is rougher than it used to be, and the fuel economy has dropped by a noticeable amount. A mate told me it sounds like worn plugs, and since I’ve never had them changed since buying the car three years ago, it seems like a reasonable place to start. The issue is I’ve called around and got wildly different numbers, one place quoted me a couple of hundred dirhams all in, another said it would be closer to a thousand because of the labour involved, and a third told me they’d need to see the car first before giving any figure at all. I’m looking for quick spark plug replacement for Infiniti in Abu Dhabi, but I also want to understand what I’m actually paying for so I can tell whether a quote is reasonable. Is the labour genuinely that involved on these turbo engines, or are some places just charging more because they can? And does the price usually include the plugs themselves or is that separate? I’d also like to know whether it’s worth paying extra for genuine parts or whether good quality equivalents are just as reliable. Has anyone here actually had this job done recently and can tell me what they paid and whether it fixed the symptoms? Any honest feedback would be really helpful because I don’t want to overpay but I also don’t want to cheap out and end up with problems.
