My 5 Series feels like it’s floating over bumps
My 5 Series feels like it’s floating over bumps and I’m pretty sure that’s not how ultimate driving machines are supposed to behave
I’ve been noticing over the last few months that my 2016 535i has started to feel a bit wallowy over dips and expansion joints like it’s a old Cadillac instead of a BMW and I kept telling myself it was just the roads getting worse or maybe my imagination but then I took a sharp exit ramp a bit quicker than usual last week and the whole car felt unsettled like it was leaning more than it should and I finally admitted that the shocks are probably toast after eighty thousand kilometers of Dubai speed bumps and construction zone detours. The dealer quote for a full set was predictably eye watering and I’m not about to pay that kind of money on a car that’s already depreciated like a rock so I started looking for independent places that actually know what they’re doing with the adaptive dampers because I’ve got the M Sport suspension and I don’t want some shop throwing in basic aftermarket shocks and calling it a day while my dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree because the EDC module can’t communicate with the new dampers. I found a few places offering BMW shock absorber replacement service Dubai and one of them specifically mentioned they can handle the adaptive system coding which is a huge relief because I was worried I’d have to either pay dealer prices or lose the sport mode functionality entirely and just live with a permanently stiff ride or a permanently soft one. Anyone actually gone through this with an F10 and can tell me if the aftermarket options from Bilstein or Sachs ride as well as the originals or should I just bite the bullet and go OEM and cry once instead of crying twice when the cheap ones fail in a year?
