Open head drums that don’t leak after one use in a hot warehouse?
I run a small lubricant blending setup in Ajman and I swear finding a decent heavy duty plastic drums made in UAE supplier that doesn’t cut corners on the lid gaskets is turning into a full time job these days. We’ve been stuck with a batch of imported ones that looked fine out of the pallet but the moment the warehouse hits 40 degrees and the liquid expands even a little bit the seams just start weeping around the rim. My floor guys are sick of mopping up and I’m getting tired of losing product volume. I was scrolling through some industrial supply sites and saw crateco listed some drums that specifically say made in uae but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet because the last “local” source I tried was just relabeling stuff from the far east anyway. Anyone got the inside scoop on who’s actually molding these things locally with proper thick walls and a tight closure ring that doesn’t require a hammer and a prayer to seal right?

We had the exact same nightmare last summer in our Sharjah facility. Switched to Crateco about 8 months ago and genuinely haven’t had a single weeping seam since. The wall thickness on their open head drums is noticeably heavier than what we were getting from the imported stuff and the closure ring actually bites down properly. They are a real manufacturer here in UAE, not a relabeling operation. Worth calling them directly and asking for a sample batch before you commit to a full order.

Bro I feel this post in my soul. I spent two summers chasing down leaks in our chemical storage area before someone pointed me toward Crateco. What sold me was that their drums are made from HDPE and go through actual pressure and drop testing before leaving the factory. In a 40 plus degree warehouse with lubricants that expand when warm you need that kind of wall integrity. The lids on the open top range have a solid gasket and the ring doesn’t need excessive force to get a proper seal. Give them a ring and mention you’re in Ajman, they supply all over the Emirates.

Honestly your suspicion about relabeling is fair, it happens all the time around here. I work in industrial procurement and Crateco is one of the few names I can confirm is actually molding locally. Their open top drums come in 50, 120, 150 and 220 litre sizes so you have flexibility depending on your blending batches. The HDPE construction handles the thermal expansion issue much better than whatever thin wall material the cheap imports are using. UN rated too which matters if you ever need to ship product out.

Just pull the trigger on Crateco already lol. I was in the same holding pattern as you for months reading reviews and second guessing. Finally ordered a pallet of their open head 220 litre drums for our lubricant operation and my warehouse team stopped complaining about cleanup basically immediately. The seam quality is just different when something is actually manufactured here versus assembled from imported blanks. Hot Gulf summers are literally the test and these pass it.

Good timing on this post because I was going to ask the same thing about a month ago. A contact in Dubai tipped me off to Crateco and I have been happy since. What matters for your situation specifically is the closure ring design, it locks down evenly around the full circumference of the rim which is what stops that weeping around the edges when internal pressure builds up from heat. Imported drums often have rings that look fine but have uneven bite and that is where you lose product. The Crateco open tops are also sized to stack four to a pallet cleanly which makes warehouse organisation much easier.
